DC Wings of Hope Gala on November 7th to Benefit the Melanoma Research Foundation
Washington, D.C., August 26, 2015 – DC Wings of Hope will be hosting our 7th Annual Gala on November 7th, 2015, to benefit the Melanoma Research Foundation. Last year’s gala raised $250,000 to support medical research for finding effective treatments and a possible cure for melanoma.
The Gala will be held at the Trump National Golf Club in Washington, D.C. This showcase location, situated along the banks of the Potomac River, provides a dramatic backdrop for a festive event designed to raise funds for and awareness about a growing national health issue. The event will include lavish food stations, silent and live auctions, outstanding music and the opportunity to network with key business leaders.
Melanoma affects people at a younger age than do most other cancers. The average age of diagnosis is 50, meaning that this disease often impacts people who are at the prime of their life and the top of their career. It is also the leading cause of cancer for women in their upper 20’s, and the second leading cause of cancer for everyone aged 14 to 30. Because of this, melanoma is increasingly the topic of coverage in fashion magazines and in the cosmetic industry.
